CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS

TO
FRED DEKKER
WHEREAS, Fred Dekker was one of the primary leaders of the community movement
which preserved and saved the Falkirk Mansion for the citizens
of San Rafael and Marin County in 1974; and
WHEREAS,
Fred for the last twenty years has continued to give generously
of his creative energy, time, money, and extensive knowledge of
architecture and design on behalf of Falkirk, in various volunteer
capacities and as a Cultural Affairs Commissioner from 1983-1991;
and
WHEREAS, Fred as the first president and leader of Marin Heritage has played
a key role in the restoration of the Falkirk Mansion, the Falkirk
Greenhouse, and the Falkirk Gardener's Cottage; and
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
Fred is not only a leader but a tireless worker, who has contributed
thousands of hours on behalf of Falkirk doing graphic design,
carpentry, landscaping, painting, cooking, pickup and delivery,
shopping, furniture moving, glazing, general maintenance and repair,
washing, cleaning, and other things that needed to be done; and
Fred has given of his time and creative talent with good humor,
a tremendous love for Falkirk, and a special gentlemanly spirit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the
Rafael, gratefully acknowledges
of service to the community.
