CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OE 11PPRECIRTION
TO
JACK MacPHAIL
WHEREAS, Jack MacPhail served first as president and then as Chief Executive
Officer and Board Chairman of McPhail's, Inc., a firm dealing with
appliances, building materials, sheet metal and fuel oil and gas;
and
WHEREAS, Jack was a native of San Rafael, attending San Rafael High School,
and received an honors degree in business administration from the
University of California at Berkeley; and
WHEREAS, Jack served two terms as a director of the Marin Municipal Water
District and, at the time of his death, was a director of the Marin
Agricultural Land Trust; and
WHEREAS, on September 12, 1991, at the Annual Construction Industry Night,
Jack was honored as Construction Industry Man of the Year, receiving
the annual Lou Della Valle Construction Industry Award in recognition
of his contributions to the industry and the community of Marin.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of San Rafael joins with the
members of the Marin Builders Exchange in honoring Jack posthumously
for his many achievements in the building industry and his generous
contributions to his community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael on
behalf of its citizens hereby pays tribute to the late Jack MacPhail.
