HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 8572 (Destroy PD Documents)RESOLUTION NO. 8572 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN POLICE DEPARTMENT DOCUMENTS WHEREAS, the Police Department has limited storage space; and WHEREAS, the Police Department maintains personnel records for ex-employees for a period of at least (5) years, as required by California Penal Code Section 832.5(b); and, WHEREAS, Government Code Section 34090, with limited exceptions authorizes the department head, with the approval of the Legislative Body, by Resolution, and the written consent of the City Attorney, to destroy any City record, document, instrument, book, or paper under his charge without making a copy thereof if the same is no longer required and more than two years old. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Police Chief if authorized to destroy personnel records of those ex-employees employed before the end of 1987 upon the written consent of the City Attorney. I, JEANNE M.
