CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS

TO
THE McNEAR FAMILY
around the turn of the century, the McNear family
built and furnished the old San Pedro School building,
renting the land on which it stood to the school
district for a mere $5 per year; and
WHEREAS, at that time, most of the children attending that
school were members of the McNear family or children
of McNear Brickyard employees; and
WHEREAS, the old school was torn down, a new school was built,
and that school was closed for 10 years between
1979 and 1989, during which time the playground
was torn down; and
WHEREAS, the McNear family generously contributed all the
materials and equipment and labor and, with the
help of parent volunteers, spent several. days working
together to build the two playground structures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael. City Council
hereby expresses their deep appreciation to the
McNear family for their very generous contribution
and their time to improve one of our school facilities
for the benefit of our children.
