RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
RE THE COMMEMORATIVE BELL
FOR THE SISTER CITY OF FALKIRK
WHEREAS, in October 1988 the City declared Falkirk,
Scotland, as our sister city, recognizing the historical
connection through the Dollar family; and
WHEREAS, Falkirk, Scotland, through community efforts,
cast a replica street light which they shipped to us and which
has been installed on the Falkirk grounds; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael would like in exchange
to send Falkirk, Scotland, a replica of a Mission Bell as a
gesture of friendship and commemoration of our sister city
relationship.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael
City Council calls for the community to contribute to a Sister
City Bell Fund to cover the costs of the casting and shipping
of this special gift to our sister city in Scotland.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael,
hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
City Council of said City held on Monday, the seventeenth day
of September, 1990, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Boro, Shippey, Thayer & Vice -Mayor Breiner
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: Mayor Mulryan
