HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 8141 (Emergency Storm Drain Replacement)RESOLUTION NO. 8141 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL WAIVING FORMAL BIDDING PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX FUNDS FOR EMERGENCY STORM DRAIN REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR ON MAPLE STREET, EUCALYPTUS LANE AND PICNIC AVENUE WHEREAS, existing storm drains on Maple Street, Eucalyptus Lane, and Picnic Avenue have deteriorated as a result of old age to an extent that they have collapsed; and WHEREAS, it would be in the public's best interest to replace or repair said storm drains as soon as possible due to their present condition; and WHEREAS, to expedite said replacement or repair work will necessitate the waiver of the City's formal bid process mandated by charter provision. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby determines that the public health, welfare and safety necessitates the waiver of the San Rafael Charter provisions for competitive bidding for emergency storm drain replace- ment or repair at Maple Street, Eucalyptus Lane and Picnic Avenue, and directs City staff to proceed with said work with all possible dispatch. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of existing budgeted gas tax funds for the replacement or repair of said storm drains. I, JEANNE M.
