WHEREAS, Mark Wright started working at the City of San Rafael in 1984 in the City's Street
Maintenance Division; and
WHEREAS, Mark was promoted to Streets Maintenance Superintendent in 2015; and
WHEREAS, during the months of January, February and March of 2017 the City of San Rafael
experienced significant rain events with rain totals double the normal rainfall for this time of
year; and
WHERAS, many of San Rafael's properties, roadways, and infrastructure have survived this
deluge based on the hard work and leadership of its Street Maintenance Supervisor, Mark
Wright; and
WHEREAS, Mark's leadership in diligently replacing and repairing storm water pump stations
and equipment over the summer months in order to have all pump stations working to their
maximum capacity this winter has saved entire neighborhoods from flood damage; and
WHEREAS, during the storms of 2017, Mark showed his dedication in developing working teams
composed of both the Streets and the Parks personnel to address storm issues; and
WHEREAS, Mark's ability to orchestrate the various teams to manage the storm impacts has
assisted the entire City by minimizing damages; and
WHEREAS, Mark's dedication and resolve to assist the Citizens of San Rafael were very apparent
during these storms, being one of the first people to be called for anything from flooding to
sinkholes; and
WHEREAS, Mark's calm, approachable, and get it done attitude exemplifies the City's goals and
objectives to support, protect, and be attentive to our City, especially during a disaster situation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael do
hereby extend t�ir Gong atulations and appreciation to Mark Wright as the Employee of the
Quarter for the�J/st quaf=E4 of 2017.
