RESOLUTION NO. 8056
CITY OF SAKI RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLlJT10N OF dPPRECIATION
TO
ANNA K. STERN
WHEREAS, Upon the recommendation of Mayor Mulryan, Anna K. Stern, who has been a
San Rafael resident for 33 years, was appointed to the Marin Commission
on Aging by the San Rafael City Council on April 5, 1982, and was
reappointed June 3, 1985 and again on June 6, 1988; and
WHEREAS, Anna went back to Sonoma State College and received her Gerontology
Certificate after serving as a U.S. Army Nurse in World War II. She
received an award for outstanding service to elders in 1984 from the
California Nurses Association; and
WHEREAS, during her years on the Commission she served both on the Health
Committee, meeting with liaisons from Senior Health Project, Senior
Partial Care at Marin General Hospital, Nursing Home Ombudsman, Grey
Panthers and Older Adult Seniors Groups, and on the Community
Education/Public Relations Committee; and
WHEREAS, Anna's belief that good communications between the generations will lead
to a better world prompted her to put together an intergenerational pilot
program in the Dixie School District to bring youth and elderly together
which was enthusiastically received by the school.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of San Rafael extends its sincere
appreciation to Anna K. Stern for her 7-1/2 years of dedicated service to
the Marin Commission on Aging and thanks her for many hours of volunteer
work and continued involvement on aging issues.
