RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
GRANT FUNDS FROM THE STATE COASTAL CONSERVANCY
FOR SHORELINE BAND PARK IMPROVEMENTS AT THE
CITY POND AT PIOMBO PLACE.
WHEREAS, The Legislature has established the State
Coastal Conservancy (pursuant to Public Resources Code 31000-
31400) and authorized it to award grants to local public
agencies to enhance the natural and scenic values of
threatened or damaged coastal and related resources; and
WHEREAS, the grants are awarded pursuant to Guidelines
established by the Coastal Conservancy; and
WHEREAS, the City owns a marsh/pond at the end of Piombo
Place along the San Francisco Bay Shoreline; and
WHEREAS. the San Rafael General Plan 2000 calls for the
pond to be restored to protect fresh water marsh and wildlife
habitat environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael seeks funding resources
to facilitate the development and implementation of the pond
enhancement project; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the Coastal
Conservancy require the applicant to certify by resolution
the approval of applications prior to submission of said
applications to the State;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of San Rafael hereby;

1. Approves the filing of an application for grant funding
under the State Coastal Conservancy's Enhancement Program;
and
2. Certifies that said agency has or will have sufficient
funds to operate and maintain the project(s) funded under
this program;
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael,
hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
City Council of said City held on Monday the
17th day of April , 1989 by the following
vote, to wit:
