CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
TO
SAN RAFAEL HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, the San Rafael High School swimming pool opened
in 1949 and, after 39 years of use, had finally
reached a state of deterioration that would have
caused permanent closure; and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael High School Alumni Association addressed
this emergency situation, and through coordinated
efforts began a campaign to raise the additional
funds needed for repairs over and above the amount
budgeted by the San Rafael School District; and
WHEREAS, the High School Swim Team and coaches provided
publicity by holding a swim-a-thon; the Pool Advisory
Committee held fundraisers; and the Boosters Club
pledged monies; and
WHEREAS, due to the contributions of dollars or labor and
materials from students, parents, alumni, individuals,
local businesses, the City of San Rafael, and the
County of Alarin, the San Rafael High School pool
has been completely renovated; and
WHEREAS, Thursday, October 6, 1988 is the re -dedication
of the San Rafael High School swimming pool in
conjunction with the preservation of San Rafael
High School and its recent centennial celebration.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
City of San Rafael expresses its appreciation
the San Rafael High School Alumni Association
its hard work and dedication in accomplishing
