WHEREAS, Karen's first day in the Recreation Department was July 1, 1974; and
WHEREAS, Karen has an outgoing personality which is always upbeat and invaluable,
coupled with down to earth good Irish common sense, and is especially effective in working
with the public; and
WHEREAS, Karen is very conscientious about safety, keeps her CPR training up to
date, helps train other City employees, and is always the first to respond calmly and
efficiently to emergencies, which has proved invaluable with the large population of seniors
who participate in programs at the Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, Karen is a warm and welcoming person, and through her work and community
involvement has developed personal contacts with key community leaders and politicians,
a valuable resource for the City; and
WHEREAS, through her son Butch, now 19 years old, Karen has been a Den Mother and
an incredibly active Little League volunteer, has organized and coordinated the annual
Little League parade for twelve years, and found these involvements and her work are
connected and complement each other; and
WHEREAS, Karen is a reliable, generous and dependable employee, always willing to
do the extra work or to be called upon for special needs, because of her feeling that
Recreation Programs are so valuable to the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT - RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City
of San Rafael hereby designate Karen Limb as
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL 1988 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
and express sincere appreciation to Karen for her dedication and outstanding service for
more than thirteen years, on this eighteenth day of April, nineteen hundred and eighty-eight.
