HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 7753 (1988 Election Results)RESOLUTION NO. 7753 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULTS OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION (CONSOLIDATED WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION) HELD ON JUNE 7, 1988 WHEREAS, in pursuance of law and the Charter of the City of San Rafael, there was held in said City on Tuesday, the 7th day of June, 1988 a special municipal election (consolidated with the Presidential Primary Election) for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of San Rafael the following measures, and each of them: MEASURE B - SPECIAL TAX ON NON-RESIDENTIALSTRUCTURES Shall San Rafael City Ordinance No. 1336, imposing a Paramedic Service Special Tax be amended to include authority to impose a tax on non-residential structures of up to five (5) cents per square foot, with a flat tax limitation of $500.00 for each one (1) cent per square foot tax levied, for funding of Paramedic Service; and the appropriation limit of the City of San Rafael be increased for a period of four (4) years by the total amount collected by the Paramedic Service Special Tax as required by Article XIIIB of the California Constitution? The text of said Ordinance is set forth as Exhibit "A" of Resolution No. 7693, passed by the City Council of the City of San Rafael on Monday, March 7, 1988, and is now on file in the office of the City Clerk. MEASURE C - APPOINTED CITY ATTORNEY Shall the Charter of the City of San Rafael be amended so as to make the office of City Attorney appointive instead of elective, effective at 12:00 midnight the day prior to the general municipal election in 1991? The text of said amendment to Section I and Section II of Article VI of the Charter is set forth in Section A of Resolution No. 7694, passed by the City Council of the City of San Rafael on Monday, March 7, 1988, and is now on file in the office of the City Clerk. ORIGINA1 RESOLUTION NO. 7753 WHEREAS, said special municipal election (consolidated with the Presidential Primary Election) was held on Tuesday, June 7, 1988, in accordance with law and the votes thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared in all respects as required by law: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael, as follows: 1. That the City Clerk of the City of San Rafael be, and is hereby, instructed to enter this resolution in the minutes of the City Council as a statement of the results of said election. 2. That the whole number of votes cast at said election was 14,456 votes. 3. That more than a two-thirds majority of all the votes cast on said Measure B were in favor of said Measure, and said Measure carried. 4. That less than a majority of all the votes cast on said Measure C were in favor of said Measure, and said Measure failed. 5. That'all absentee voters' ballots have been duly received and canvassed in time, form and manner as required by law. I, JEANNE M.
