WHEREAS, Chuck Canada has worked as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of
San Rafael for eight years; and
-WHEREAS, as Recreation Supervisor he managed the City's fast pitch softball
league, youth sports program, tennis lessons and tournaments, sailing programs and
numerous other successful recreation programs city-wide; and
WHEREAS, Chuck supervised the operation, maintenance, and program develop-
ment at the Pickleweed Community Center for two years, increased program
offerings, community participation and special events, helped initiate the
International Seniors program and worked with the Pickleweed Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, Chuck assisted in grant administration and park development
projects, including Albert Park Field Renovation, Pickleweed Park Assessment and
Masterplan Design; 1986 State Park Bond Act Grant for Albert Park Ballfield and
Tennis Court Relighting project; and
WHEREAS, Chuck has demonstrated a dedication to the field of park and
recreation through his active support and leadership in California Parks and
Recreation Society, as well as his volunteer community involvement in coaching
Girls Bobby Sox for several years; and
WHEREAS, Chuck has consistently prpven to be a valuable, creative, well
organized and dedicated employee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby conveys its gratitude and appreciation to Chuck for his many years
of contributions to the City, and wishes him continued success in his new position
as Recreation Superintendent with the City of Tracy.
