HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 7683 (Purchase Vehicles)RESOLUTION NO. 7683 A RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING STAFF TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FIVE POLICE VEHICLES THROUGH STEVE SNYDER CHEVROLET. WHEREAS, the San Rafael City Council authorized the replacement of five police vehicles in the 1987-1988 budget, and; WHEREAS, Los Angeles County has requested and received bids for 4 -door law enforcement sedans from vendors state- wide, and; WHEREAS, the specifications and bids have been received and reviewed by the San Rafael Police Department staff, and; WHEREAS, the lowest bid received by Los Angeles County for a fully equipped 4 -door law enforcement sedan was at a unit price of $13,164.52, and; WHEREAS, Los Angeles County satisfied competitive bidding procedures, and; WHEREAS, Los Angeles County requested bids based upon a specification established through testing and evaluation, utilized by local agencies, state-wide, and; WHEREAS, a local dealer, STEVE SNYDER CHEVROLET, has offered the same car at one half of one percent above the bid obtained by Los Angeles County, and; WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public fiscal health and welfare to purchase the five vehicles through Steve Snyder Chevrolet. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council authorizes staff to waive the competitive bidding process and to purchase five law enforcement 4 -door sedans, Chevrolet Caprices, at a unit price of $13,230.44 for a total price of $66,152.20, as the lowest responsible bid. I, JEANNE M.
