RESUhUTION OF APPRECIATION
M A Y N A R D W I L L M S
WHEREAS, Maynard Willms sought and achieved the appointment to
the City Council to fill the vacancy left by the death
of Jerry Russom; and
WHEREAS, while filling this role as Councilmember, Maynard continued
to carry out his longstanding commitment to the entire
community and soon demonstrated his own style and
independent approach to City issues; and
WHEREAS, in spite of the short period of time, Maynard was able
to "hit the ground running" upon his appointment, due
to this long-term involvement in the community through
neighborhood association work and membership on the Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, Maynard did an outstanding and effective job during his
tenure, particularly in regard to dealing with the 1987-88
budget, the General Plan process and his representation
of the City to the Redwood Empire Division of the League
of California Cities; and
WHEREAS, Maynard received a promotion which made it impossible
for him to run for the Council position;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council
expresses its deep appreciation on behalf of all the
citizens of San Rafael for his outstanding service to
his community, wishes him success in his new position,
and encourages his continued involvement in community
affairs. Maynard is a valued citizen.
