HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 7492 (Jerry R. Russom Park Designation)RESOLUTION NO. 74g2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SAN RAFAEL DESIGNATING JERRY R. RUSSOM PARK WHEREAS, Jerry R. Russom was an effective community leader while serving in numerous capacities of public service; and WHEREAS, Jerry R. Russom served in these capacities with intel- ligence, fairness, a delightful sense of humor and a vision for the betterment of the community; and WHEREAS, Jerry displayed strong leadership during times of difficult decisions while serving on the Dixie School District Board of Trustees and the San Rafael Redevelopment Agency Citizens Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, Jerry R. Russom served on the San Rafael City Council from November 15, 1983 to February 2, 1987; and WHEREAS, Jerry R. Russom demonstrated his effectiveness by being instrumental in securing the Mont Marin Open Space consisting of approximately 200 acres of land; and WHEREAS, Jerry R. Russom was very active in community affairs, participating as a board member of the San Rafael Public Education Foundation and an active participant in the campaign to have the City purchase the Dollar Mansion, now known as Falkirk; and WHEREAS, this Council is grieved at the loss of a colleague and dear friend; and WHEREAS, this Council desires to permanently recognize Jerry R. Russom for his outstanding community service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council hereby designates those lands known as the Mont Marin Open Space to be further and forever known as the Jerry R. Russom Park. I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City on Tuesday, the 17th day of February 1987, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS:Breiner, Frugoli, Nave & Mayor Mulryan NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS:None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS:None JEANNt/ PI,,__LEONCINI City Clerk
