A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PROCLAIMING
THE WEEK OF MARCH 8 - 14, 1987 AS
WOMEN'S HISTORY WEEK
WHEREAS, throughout history the significant roles of
women have not been adequately recorded; and
WHEREAS, in addition, there is very little focus on
the many contributions of women in the areas of literature,
drama, art, poetry and music; and
WHEREAS, because of the significance and scope of the
female's role in the making of history and in the development
of American culture and society, it is important that we
recognize the many contributions of women; and
WHEREAS, March 8, 1987, is the 79th anniversary of
International Women's Day and, as part of the commemoration
of this day, the Marin County Commission on the Status of Women
is honoring Women's History Week, March 8 - 14, 1987, and is
coordinating its observance through schools and community groups
across the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of San Rafael takes pleasure in declaring the Week
of March 8 - 14, 1987, to be
WOMEN'S HISTORY WEEK
and urges all in San Rafael to join in the celebration thereof.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael,
hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
Council of said City on Monday, the 2nd day of March, 1987,
by the following vote, to wit:
