RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF $36,000
FROM UNALLOCATED RESERVES TO CONDUCT SURVEY AND
TESTING WORK FOR DREDGING OF THE PRIVATE PROPERTY
ADJACENT TO SAN RAFAEL CANAL
WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers is in the process of
preparing to dredge the Federal portion of San Rafael Canal; and
WHEREAS, the Corps is desirous in facilitating the dredg-
ing of those privately owned areas adjacent to the Federal portion of
San Rafael Canal; and
WHEREAS, the Corps requires that the City of San Rafael be
the lead agency as respects the private dredging; and
WHEREAS, because of the immediacy of the Corps project,
certain payments must be made to complete required testing and
hydrosurveys; and
WHEREAS, the property owners are in the process of at-
tempting to form a dredging assessment district which, if formed,
would reimburse the City for any out of pocket expenses including
advancing funds to perform said testing and hydrosurveying.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of San Rafael hereby appropriates $36,000 from unappropriated
reserves to advance funds necessary to perform surveying and testing
of materials on private property adjacent to the Federal portion of
San Rafael Canal.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council takes this
action contingent upon a favorable response from the private property
owners to form a dredging assessment district.

hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City
on Monday, the 18th day of May, 1987, by the following vote, to wit:
