RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION OF
$31,009 TO THE COUNTY OF MARIN AS
SAN RAFAEL'S SHARE OF AN OPERATIONAL
SUBSIDY FOR THE COUNTYWIDE ANIMAL
CONTROL AND INJURED ANIMAL CONTROL
PROGRAMS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1986-1987
The City of San Rafael, hereinafter referred to as City,
does hereby declare, find and determine that:
WHEREAS, a Joint Powers Agreement was entered into seven-
teen years ago between the County of Marin and Marin Cities
whereby the County would provide animal control services on a
countywide basis; and
WHEREAS, an Animal Control program has been in operation,
as required by State law, receiving its funding from dog licenses,
fines and forfeitures and other related revenues received
throughout the county; and
WHEREAS, increasing costs of operating a countywide animal
control program have far exceeded revenues received.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of
San Rafael hereby determines that in order to maintain a coun-
tywide animal control program, and research and develop adequate
future funding sources, a one year operational subsidy of the
Marin County Animal Control program is required from Marin cities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City hereby authorizes the
use of $31,009 of unallocated reserves to fund San Raf ael's share
of said subsidy.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk for the city of
San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
San Rafael City Council held on Monday, the 15th day of September,
1986, by the following vote, to wit:

NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
