TO
SAN RAFAEL PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION
WHEREAS, 'the City of San Rafael rates excellence in public
education as one of its most important goals; and
WHEREAS, the SAN RAFAEL PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION raises
money from local businesses and private citizens within the City
of San Rafael to fund worthy but unfunded educational projects and
equipment purchases for the San Rafael and Dixie school districts;
I and
WHEREAS, FOUNDATION grants have funded exemplary programs,
such as a seashore study program, a short story writing class, the
DeYoung Museum art truck, and a visit to the Monterey Aquarium,
among various other field trips, environmental courses, and en-
richment activities for all the Dixie and San Rafael elementary
schools; and
WHEREAS, the FOUNDATION this year is concentrating its
efforts on specific priority projects at San Rafael and Terra
Linda high schools.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of San Rafael declares the month of October, 1986 to be
SAN RAFAEL PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION MONTH
in recognition of and appreciation for the FOUNDATION's continued
support of local education institutions.
