HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 7317 (Library Building Program)RESOLUTION 7317 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING LIBRARY STAFF TO APPLY TO THE SAN FRANCISCO FOUNDATION FOR A GRANT FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES TO DEVELOP A LIBRARY BUILDING PROGRAM WHEREAS, The San Rafael Public Library has served the informational, educational, and recreational needs of the community for almost 100 years; and WHEREAS, The present seventy -five-year-old facility housing the San Rafael Public Library is inadequate to meet the current needs of the community; and WHEREAS, a planning study of library services in Marin County conducted by the firm of Joseph Matthews and Associates has recommended that the present facility housing the San Rafael Public Library be replaced; and WHEREAS, the first step in dealing with the issue of the library facility is to develop a building program which will outline a plan of action to guide decision-making; and WHEREAS, The Library Board of Trustees has recommended that the City Council authorize staff to apply to the San Francisco Foundation for funds to develop a library building program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby authorizes Library staff to apply to the San Francisco Foundation for funds for consultant services to develop a Library Building Program. I, JEANNE M.
