HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 7069 (National Veterans' Cemetery National Park)RESOLUTION NO. 7069 A RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NATIONAL VETERANS' CEMETERY IN REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK WHEREAS, veterans of the military services of the United States of America should be honored and recognized for the service which they rendered to their country; and WHEREAS, the veterans' national cemeteries in the Northern California region are near capacity; and WHEREAS, the City Council is aware of the shortage of appropriate national burial spots for our honored war and service veterans. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael supports the efforts to establish a 1,500 acre national cemetery in Redwood National Park at an area known as School House Peak, and further requests that our State and National representatives take such action necessary to establish a national cemetery at this location. I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a Regular meeting of the City Council of said city, held on Monday the First day of April 1985, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS:Breiner, Frugoli, Nave & Mayor Mulryan NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS:None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS:Russom JE Ems.
