HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 7079 (I580 Interchange Impr)RESOLUTION No. 7079 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL REQUESTING MARIN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' SUPPORT FOR THE HIGHWAY 101 INTERSTATE 580 INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENT WHEREAS,the City of San Rafael City Council endorses Marin County Board Supervisors Resolution #84-598 which establishes main Highway 101 improvements as the County's highest priority, and WHEREAS, there is no State or Federal Aid Primary funding for programming future improvements of Highway 101 available this year, and WHEREAS,the California Department of Transportation has completed a special study of the Highway 101/Interstate 580 Interchange, and WHEREAS, the special study identifies two improvement projects in the interchange, one of which is a Federal Aid Interstate project, and WHEREAS, there is Federal Aid Interstate funding available this year for programming additional 1989/1990 Interstate projects, and WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael City Council requests Marin County Board of Supervisors' support in pursuing the Federal Aid Inter- state funding, and WHEREAS, concern has been expressed about a potential adverse impact that the Federal Aid Interstate funding for the Interstate 580 interchange may have on future funding for Federal Aid Primary Highway 101 improvements since both types of projects are counted against the "County Minimum" highway funding allotment, and WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael does not intend to jeopardize the funding of Marin County priority Highway 101 improvements, NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of San Rafael requests the Marin County Board of Supervisors'support in pursuing Interstate funding for the Interstate 580/Highway 101 inter- change this year, - 1 - RESOLUTION NO. 7079 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of San Rafael commits to waive any claim to a funding commitment from the 1985/86 State Transportation Improvement Program if in the next two years funding becomes available for higher Marin County priority Highway 101 improve- ments and the commitment to Interstate 580/Highway 101 interchange improvements jeopardizes the Highway 101 funding potential.
