A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY TO THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT FOR RENTAL HOUSING CONSTRUCTION
PROGRAM GRANT FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has housing policies
discouraging conversion of residential buildings to non-residential
uses unless equivalent housing is maintained; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Department has received a proposal
to demolish a rooming house and a five unit apartment for new
office construction; and
WHEREAS, the City and Developer are exploring many
options to replace the residential units proposed to be lost; and
WHEREAS, the Developer and the Ecumenical Association
for Housing have worked out a proposal to construct new low
income rental units to replace units lost, and the proposal
includes the need for funding from the State Department of Housing
and Community Development Rental Housing Construction Program;
and
WHEREAS, the regulations for this grant program require
that the City be the applicant for the funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
authorizes staff to apply for grant funds available from the
Rental Housing Construction Program and authorizes the Mayor to
sign the necessary application forms to complete the grant
application.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, Clerk of the City of San Rafael,
hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said
City on Monday, the 16th day of April 1984, by the
following vote, to wit:
