RESOLUTION NO.6951
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
TO
JOHN BERTRAND
WHEREAS, JOHN BERTRAND, while a resident of
San Rafael, attended Davidson Middle
School, San Rafael High School, and
College of Marin, and
WHEREAS, MR. BERTRAND. a member of the 1980
U.S. Olympic Team, also successfully
qualified to represent the United
States in the Finn Class in the 1984
Olympics, after a very difficult
series of qualifying races, and
WHEREAS, JOHN BERTRAND has served as tactician
on the twelve meter Courageous, which
sailed so brilliantly in the America's
Cup defense trials, and will serve
as tactician in the twelve meter
America II that will fight for the
America's Cup in 1987, and
WHEREAS, JOHN distinguished himself in the
Twenty-third Olympiad in Los Angeles
by winning a Silver t,iedal in the
Finn Class.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the San
Rafael City Council salutes
JOHN BERTRAND for his fine
accomplishment in winning the Silver
Aledal.
