CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
TO
DAVID SCHWAB

WHEREAS, on the ninth day of September, 1984, San
Rafael Firefighter David Schwab, while returning home
from an off duty weekend in Reno, witnessed a pickup truck
and trailer combination fishtail, roll over and burst
into flames; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Schwab, without benefit of
any protective equipment, ran to the burning vehicle and
rescued its driver, Mrs. Catherine IIackett, just moments
before it exploded; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Schwab remained on the scene
with hors. Hackett until the arrival of medical personnel,
in addition to assisting the local fire department in
extinguishing the fire.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
San Rafael extends to San Rafael Firefighter David Schwab
its sincere appreciation for his quick action and willing-
ness to perform an unselfish act in a time of need.
