SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF LINDSAY LARA TO THE UNEXPIRED FIVE-YEAR TERM TO THE
OFFICE OF CITY CLERK THAT WILL EXPIRE DECEMBER 7, 2020
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council appoint and officially swear into office Lindsay Lara as
City Clerk to fill the unexpired five-year term that expires December 7, 2020.
DISCUSSION:
At the Regular Meeting of the City Council on January 16, 2018, the City Council called for
applications to fill the unexpired five-year term of the City Clerk, due to retirement of Esther
Beirne.
There were 13 applications received for City Clerk by the deadline of January 31, 2018, of which
the three most qualified candidates were interviewed at a Special Council Meeting on
February 13, 2018. City Council deliberated on the candidates interviewed and a motion was
made to appoint Lindsay Lara to the City Clerk unexpired five-year term that expires on
December 7, 2020.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact for this action.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve staff recommendation.

The City Council interviewed the following candidates: Sonya Hammons, Mee Mee Wong and
Lindsay Lara
Mayor Phillips invited public comment; however, there was none.
Councilmember McCullough moved and Vice-Mayor Gamblin seconded to appoint Lindsay Lara
to fill one unexpired five-year term to end December 7, 2020
AYES: Councilmembers: Colin, Gamblin, McCullough & Mayor Phillips
NOES: Councilmembers: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers: Bushey
ADJOURNMENT:
Mayor Phillips adjourned the meeting at 1:00 p.m.
