Three applications were received in the City Clerk’s Office by the deadline of Tuesday, February 13, 2018. COMMUNITY OUTREACH: The call for applications for the Zero Waste Marin Local Task Force was advertised in Snapshot (the City Manager’s e-newsletter), the City website, NextDoor and Facebook social media platforms. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve staff recommendation. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Yes, I was a leader in the effort to work with Parks and Recreation to offer Pickleball on public courts in San Rafael. This started in 2017 and winter play is taking place twice-weekly at the Al Boro Community Center gymnasium. In the past I've served on committees within the Dominican/Black Canyon Neighborhood Association. In 2017 as a member of the Sustainability Sub-Committee of Dominican University, I worked closely with multi-parties, including Marin Sanitary Services and Epicurean Group (food service) to start composting in our cafeteria. This has been expanded to the cafe located in the same building. I initiated offering our adult classes through San Rafael Parks and Recreation - which is beginning the summer of 2018. We offer free sailing classes in the summer to underserved youth that is funded by the Department of Boating and Waterways. I currently attend the the Chamber of Commerce's committee on Green Business for Dominican. I'm working on a faculty committee at Dominican to encourage bicycling from SMART and bring ZipCars to campus. We are also exploring contracting with MCE for energy. Education: Bachelor's Degree from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia Master of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia Post graduate courses in Education from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mass. Why are you interested in serving on a board or commission? I'm interested in THIS appointment because of my personal values. I'm committed to reducing waste by composting, recycling, reusing, and saving energy. I have solar panels on my roof and drive an electric car. I would like to be involved in a regional effort.
