CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOLUTION OF dPPREE111TION
TO
SAN RAFAEL VOLUNTEER FIRE; DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the SAN RAFAEL VOLUN'T'EER FIRE DEPARTMENT was formed in
1874 and for 102 vears provided the citizens with fire
protection and community services which enriched all
our lives; and
WHEREAS, the SAN RAFAEL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT was instru-
mental in extinguishing fires in the Hotel Rafael
June 29, 1928, the Bath house June 4, 1.949, Mar Vista
Motors May 24, 1950, Lddl-e Fire March 9, 1955, Fourth
Street fire July 29, 1957, Northwestern Pacific Rail-
road Tunnel fire July 20, 1901, and many others that
went unheralded; and
I1'TIEREAS , in 1976, the SAN RAFAEL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTIMENT
disbanded and entrusted the San Rafael. Fire Department
with funds to provide a special service to the citizens
of San Rafael. The funds have provided a Public
Education Trailer which will be an everlasti.n(} tribute
to the SAN RAFAEL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT who served,
and through the trailer, continue to serve, the citizens
of San Rafael.
NOW, TI-IEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Ci.ty Council hereby express
its sincere appreciation to the members of the SAN
RAFAEL VOLUNTEER MRF. DEPARTMENT for unselfish dedica-
tion to serving the residents of San Rafael, and for
providing continued service to the public through
public education.
