in 1967, JOHN MISKHIEN became the first Terra Lin d;1
resident to be elected to the San Rafael City
Council, and has served with distinction n s a
Councilmember for sixteen years; and
while serving as a Councilmember, JOHN ~II S KHIEN ha s
served as Director, Chairman and Secretary of th e
San Rafael Sanitation District; President of th e
Recllvood Empire Division of the League of California
Cities; was a member of the City/School Liaison
Committee, and the ABAG Legislative and Government
Organi:ation Committee; and
JOHN ~lISKIMEN' s key concerns as a Councilmember have
been open space, redevelopment and well-planned
commercial and residential development for the Ci ty
of San Rafael, and has been a strong advocat e of
citizen participation. JOI -IN has often di s played his
ability to cut through complex issues, summariz e key
points and hring Council to a decis i on.

on behalf of the citizens of San Rafael, e xpr e ss e s
its deep appreciation to JOHN MISKP1EN f or his
sixteen vears of dedicated nublic service to his c om-
munity a~d for his countles~ contributions to San
Rafael, and wishes him wcll in his future endeavor s.
