RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN RAFAEL SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 215
(FORAN - 2�/GALLON GAS INCREASE)
WHEREAS, in the next several months the California
Legislature will be considering SB215 (Foran); and
WHEREAS, SB215 provides for a 2G/gallon increase on
gasoline as well as an increase in other transportation revenues
such as a gradual increase in truck weight fees, a gradual
increase in the driver's license fees, and a gradual increase in
vehicle registration fees; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael and other local agencies
are currently unable to provide essential maintenance for the
street and road system with current funding sources; and
WHEREAS, current declining gas tax revenues do not
provide adequate funding for San Rafael's street maintenance
program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of San Rafael supports the passage of SB215, sponsored
by Senator Foran, calling for an increase in the highway users'
tax on gasoline, as well as an increase in other transportation
revenues.

hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of
said City on Monday, the 6th day of April, 1981, by the following
vote, to wit:
