I am applying to be a Trustee on the Library Board so that I can help shape conversations about library priorities, and thereby address critical quality of life issues/factors that can benefit all residents. Our library services are vast and include resources that affect every aspect of citizenship; many people benefit greatly from this wealth of free services. I can apply my critical thinking and empathy building skills to help drive the best policy to protect this asset. As an Elementary School Teacher and a Reading Intervention Teacher in the Bay Area for 10 years, I have been involved in a wide variety of cultures where I was surrounded by literacy-related causes. I revel in the knowledge that families and communities benefit from improved literacy and access to libraries. My family uses the Civic Center Library regularly, both in person and online. We often put resources on hold and renew books when they are past due on marinet.lib.ca.us. We have made use of Mango Languages as well.
