With my knowledge of policies, facility design and traffic operations, and experience working in local government, I believe I could offer a significant contribution to the city as a member of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. I live in Terra Linda and do a lot of walking on City streets, both for exercise and to run errands. This requires considerable vigilance to avoid being hit by motorists (or, occasionally, cyclists) who are distracted and/or unaware that pedestrians have the right of way in crosswalks. I would like to see more City resources directed toward cyclists who are using their bicycles in place of cars, and less toward what I consider to be recreational cyclists.
