A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN RAFAEL TO "TAKE A BITE OUT OF CRIME"; TO
DESIGNATE THE WEEK OF MAY 19-26, 1980 AS CITIZEN
AWARENESS/BURGLARY PREVENTION WEEK; AND TO CALL
UPON ALL CITIZENS AND AGENCIES TO WORK TOGETHER
IN COMBATTING THE CRIME OF BURGLARY.
WHEREAS, the crime of burglary represents an annual loss
exceeding $2 million each year to the citizens of 14arin County, and
WHEREAS, public safety in a democratic society is best
served when active citizen participation in the detection and
apprehension of criminals is the result of cooperative efforts between
the citizenry and its law enforcement officers, and
WHEREAS, successful detection and apprehension of criminal
offenders is heavily reliant upon an informed and involved public, and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California, in
support of a program of the Attorney General of the State, have resolved
their support of California Crime Watch, and
WHEREAS, the Marin County Police Chiefs' Association, of
which this City is a member, has prepared a media campaign for the week
of May 19-26, 1980, to inform the citizenry of Marin as to the extent
of the problem of burglary and methods for their direct involvement to
"Take A Bite Out Of Crime";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of San Rafael, that the week of 'May 19-26, 1980 is hereby
designated as Citizen Awareness/Burglary Prevention Week, and be it
further resolved that the City Council calls upon all citizens to
participate in Citizen Awareness/Burglary Prevention !leek through
education and cooperation with law enforcement in the detection and
apprehension of such offenders and to "Take A Bite Out of Crime"
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael
hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said
City held on the fifth day of May 1980, by the following vote,
to wit:
