WHEREAS, C. PAUL BETTINI served with distinction as Mayor of the
City of San Rafael, and has demonstrated a true commitment to local self-
government for the past twenty-five years, and

WHEREAS, PAUL BETTINI has served in elected and appointed positions
including the San Rafael Board of Education, as Mayor of San Rafael, the Bay
Area Sewer Services Agency, the San Rafael Sanitation District, Golden Gate
Bridge, Highway and Transportation District and others, and
WHEREAS, PAUL BETTINI was instrumental in providing leadership for
such important programs and projects as the City's new General Plan for Land
Use; Redevelopment Effort; Sign Control Ordinance; Open Space Acquisition
Program; the San Rafael Community Center; expansion of the San Rafael Library;
widening of Miracle Mile and South San Pedro Road; creating of County Service
Area 19 for fire protection; acquisition of Falkirk; annexation of Terra Linda
into the City; streamlining City government and many others, and
WHEREAS, PAUL BETTINI served his community with boundless energy,
dedication, sensitivity and unselfishness in giving of himself, and
WHEREAS, PAUL has partially retired after long years of service to
his fellow citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council commend
Mayor Bettini for his long years of giving of himself to his community.
