A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SIGNING OF A
CONTRACT, LEASE OR AGREEMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL RESOLVES as follows:
The MAYOR and CITY CLERK are authorized to execute, on behalf of the
City of San Rafael a contract, lease or agreement with
PROCLAMATION
ARCO Jesse Owens concerning declaring the week of May 13, 1979 as
ARCO Jesse Owens Game Week
a copy of which is hereby attached and by this reference made a part hereof.
I, JEANNE M. LEONCINI, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby
certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on
Monday the
7th
following vote, to wit:

P R O C L A M A T I O N
ARCO JESSE OWENS GAME WEEK
1VHEREAS, the ARCO Jesse Owens Games is a Community Service
program of the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company and
conducted in honor of Jesse Owens, honored as the
greatest performer in track history; and
WHEREAS, Atlantic Richfield Company shares with Mr. Owens
the belief that our young people are the greatest
resource this country has and that bringing young
people together on the field of competition is one
of the many ways to develop this resource; and
WHEREAS, these Games are essentially a novice program
directed at playground level boys and girls, pro-
viding competition in basic running, jumping and
throwing events with an emphasis on the value of
participating and performing to the best of one's
ability; and
WHEREAS, San Rafael, California, is one of the many American
cities in which these competitions are held;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, LAWRENCE MULRYAN, MAYOR of the City of
San Rafael, California, do hereby proclaim
the week of May 13, 1979, as:
ARCO JESSE OWENS GAME WEEK
in the City of San Rafael, and I urge participation
in this observance to demonstrate our interest in
our youth.
