HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5801 (Federal Library Services Funding)RESOLUTION NO. 5801 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING CITY OF SAN RAFAEL TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT FEDERAL LIBRARY SERVICES AND CONSTRUCTION ACT FUNDING FOR 1980-81 WHEREAS, The California State Library has available federal Library Services and Construction Act funds for the extension and improvement of public library services both to geographic areas and to groups of people without adequate services; and WHEREAS, the San Rafael Public Library is desirous of making application to the State of California to extend and improve services to the people of San Rafael. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of San Rafael be authorized to apply for and accept federal funding for 1980-81 as provided by grant award(s) approved by the State Librarian, and the Mayor of San Rafael is hereby authorized to sign subsequent agreements for approved grant award(s). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this approval does not entail any further matching financial contribution, San Rafael having already contributed its matching by expenditures heretofore made for library purposes, nor does it commit the City of San Rafael to continuance beyond the period covered by said grant funds un- less duly considered and deemed desirable for the best interest of the citizens of the community to do so. (Note: In the latter instance it would require separate action and resolution by specific jurisdictional body and this instrument could not be so construed as to be binding.) I, JEANNE M.
