HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 5403 (Falkirk Historic Preservation Application)RESOLUTION NO. 5403 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL APPROVING THE APPLICATION AND THE PROJECT AGREEMENT FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION GRANTS-IN-AID FUNDS FOR FALKIRK COMMUNITY CULTURAL CENTER PROJECT WHEREAS, the Congress under Public Law 89-665 has authorized the establishment of a National Historic Preservation Grants -in -Aid Program, providing matching funds to the State of California and its political subdivisions for historic preservation, survey, planning, development and acquisition projects, and WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for the administration of the program within the state, setting up necessary rules and procedures governing application by local agencies under the program; and WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established by the State Department of Parks and Recreation require the applicant to certify by resolution the approval of applications and the availability of local matching funds prior to submission of said applications to the state; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby: 1. Approves the filing of an application for the National Historic Preservation Grants -in -Aid assistance for Falkirk project; and 2. Appoints the City Manager or his authorized deputy as agent of the City to coordinate and process all ancillary documents within the scope of the attached application, and authorizes said agent to execute on behalf of the City the PROJECT AGREEMENT; if and when a grant award is forthcoming; and 3. Agrees that all required local matching funds will be provided for the project. I, JEANNE M. Brief Project Description: Monies awarded will enable the City, in accordance with its master restoration plan, to complete restoration of the exterior of the structure.
