HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5489RESOLUTION NO. 5489 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL APPROVING THE APPLICATION AND THE PROJECT AGREEMENT FOR GRANT FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL WHEREAS, the California Arts Council provides funding assistance to local and statewide arts groups and organizations that strengthen and/or provide artistic, cultural and arts -related services for the people of the State of California through organizational and group development grants, and WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established by the California Arts Council require the applicant to certify by resolution the approval of applications for grant funding assistance prior to submittal of said application to the California Arts Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby: 1 . Approves the filing of an application for Grant assistance for a Cultural Needs Assessment Project with the California Arts Council; and 2. Appoints the City Manager or his authorized representative as agent of the City to coordinate and process all ancillary documents within the scope of the attached application, and authorizes said agent to execute on behalf of the City the attached PROJECT AGREEMENT. Cultural Affairs A. To stimulate and encourage community interest and participation in the arts. B. To present a broad range of programs of the highest possible caliber featuring the work of rationally and internationally known artists. C. To provide a showcase for emerging artists. D. To present a well-balanced range of programming that will be of interest to all segments of the community. E. To develop promotional materials= to be used in advertising the facility; the need for donations of money, furnishings, and volunteers, and the programs and activities available,, D. To continue to improve the quality of materials developed by staff and volunteers. Consultants who specialize in this type of survey will be contacted and a consultant will be chosen by the San Rafael Cultural Affairs Commission before November 30, 1978. The consultant will then work with the Cultural Affairs Commission, the Cultural Affairs Department and the Cultural Affairs Service League as needed in the organization and implementation of the survey. Required reports will be completed and submitted on the following dates and subjects: Marc -:h 31, 1179 Determination of the specific format for the Community C tiltural Needs Survey and methods of its proposed implementation. AUdust 31, 1179 An In Progress Report. November 30, 1979 A sinal report on the findings with recommendations. Following the final report the Cultural Affairs Commission and the Cultural Affairs Department staff will use this information in short -terra implementation of, and long-term planning for, community cultural programs.
