RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF
CERTAIN FINANCE DEPARTMENT DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the Finance Department has limited storage space;
and
WHEREAS, the Finance Department has voluminous canceled
checks, carbon copies of checks with supporting invoices, and cash
receipts, in excess of three years old; and
WHEREAS,
Government Code Section 34090,
with limited
excep-
tions, authorizes
the Head of a
Department, with
the approval
of the
Legislative Body,
by Resolution,
and the written
consent of the City
Attorney, to destroy
any City
record, document,
instrument,
book,
or paper under his
charge without
making a copy thereof if the
same is
no longer required
and more than
two years old.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Finance Director is
authorized to destroy the above-described documents and records issued
prior to July 1, 1975, upon securing the written consent of the City
Attorney.

Rafael, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and
regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City
Council of said City held on Tuesday the 5th day of September, 1978,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Jensen, Miskimen, Mulryan, Nixon and Mayor Bettini
