A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL URGING THE MARIN MUNI-
CIPAL WATER DISTRICT TO MAKE PROVISIONS
FOR EXTENDING THE USE OF THE PIPELINE OVER
THE RICHMOND -SAN RAFAEL BRIDGE.
WHEREAS, at a cost of over $1.5 million the Marin Muni-
cipal Water District has installed a temporary 24 -inch water line across
the Richmond -San Rafael Bridge to alleviate the present drought problem
throughout the County of Marin; and
WHEREAS, the State of California Department of Transportation
has requested removal of this very vital and extremely expensive water
line after only one year of service; and
WHEREAS, the water needs, as determined by the County's General
Plan and the General Plans of several cities, have not been met;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of San Rafael urges the Board of Directors of the Marin Municipal Water
District to make every effort to make provisions for a permanent water
source of supply, using the existing pipeline or a modified version, until
such time as projected General Plan requirements have been installed for
the residents of the community.
I, MARION A.GRADY , Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby
certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced
and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held
on Monday , the 16th day of May , 1977, by the
following vote, to wit:

Bettini
