HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6009 (Boyd Site Historical Landmark)RESOLUTION NO. 6009 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATING BOYD SITE AS AN HISTORICAL LANDMARK WHEREAS, the Cultural Affairs Commission and the City Council have found, after conducting public hearings, that the Boyd Site has significant value as part of the cultural characteristics of the City, exemplifies the cultural, social, and historic heritage of the community, portrays the environment in the era of history characterized by a distinctive architectural style, embodies those distinguishing characteristics of an architectural type, is part of a distinctive area of the community, and represents an established and familiar visual feature of the community; and WHEREAS, a description of the characteristics of the Boyd Site which justifies this Designation and a description of the parti- cular features that should be preserved are attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and are incorporated herein by reference; and WHEREAS, the location and boundaries of the Boyd Site are those contained in Exhibit "B" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL as follows: That the Boyd Site hereinabove mentioned and described be and the same is hereby designated as an Historical Landmark, and shall be preserved and maintained pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 2.18 of the San Rafael Municipal Code. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of San Rafael is hereby directed to cause a copy of this Resolution, or notice thereof, to be recorded in the Office of the County Recorder. I, MARION A. GRADY, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly intro- duced and adopted at a regular i meeting of the Council of the City of San Rafael held on the 22nd day of March , 1976, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Jensen, Miskimen, Mulryan, Nixon and Mayor Bettini NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None MARION A. GRADY, City C1 k DEED DESCRIPTION OF A PORTION OF BOYD PARK CONTAINING THE BOYD HOUSE MUSEUM Beginning at the Northwest corner of Hanson Street (now Mission Avenue) and B Street as said streets are shown on the plat of the townsite of the Town of San Rafael filed in the office of the County Recorder of Marin County on the 14th day of October, A.D. 1873; thence along the Westerly line of said B Street North 7013' East 63.70 feet to the true point of beginning; thence N7°13'E along said) line 52.84'; thence along a line bearing N84006' 55"W a distance of 95.53 feet; thence Southwesterly along a line bearing S6°46'07"W a distance o -F 90.17 feet; thence along a line bearing N7A'34'18"E a distance of 102.72' to the true point of beginning.
