HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 6010RESOLUTION NO. 6010 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATING FALKIRK SITE AS AN HISTORICAL LANDMARK WHEREAS, the Cultural Affairs Commission and the City Council have found, after conducting public hearings, that the Falkirk Site has significant value as part of the cultural charac- teristics of the City, exemplifies the cultural, social, and historic heritage of the community, portrays the environment in the era of history characterized by a distinctive architectural style, and em- bodies those distinguishing characteristics of an architectural type; and WHEREAS, a description of the characteristics of the Falkirk Site which justifies this Designation and a description of those particular features that should be preserved are attached here- to as Exhibit "A" and are incorporated herein by reference; and WHEREAS, the location and boundaries of the Falkirk Site are those contained in Exhibit "B" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL as follows: That the Falkirk Site hereinabove mentioned and described be and the sanme hereby is designated as an Historical Landmark, and shall be preserved and maintained pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 2.18 of the San Rafael Municipal Code. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of San Rafael is hereby directed to cause a copy of this Resolution, or notice thereof, to be recorded in the Office of the County Recorder. GRADY, Ci Clerk LRP,tlGlNn i DEED DESCRIPTION OF A PORTION OF THE FALKIRK SITE CONTAINING THE FALKIRK MANSION AND IMPROVED GROUNDS That certain real property situated in the City of San Rafael, County of Marin, State of California, described as follows: BEGINNING at the Southeasterly corner of that lot of land conveyed by James D. Bullis to G. S. Haskell, by Deed dated July 9, 1866, and recorded on page 113 of Book F of Deeds, in the office of the County Recorder of said Marin County, said point of beginning being 238 1/2 feet measured Northerly along the Easterly line of E Street from the Northerly side of 5th Avenue and running thence by the true meridian on a course parallel to the Northerly side of 5th Avenue, South 83045' East 38.80 feet to the true point of beginning; thence S83°45' E 19.00' thence S 83°45' East 261.70' to the Southeast corner of that parcel of land conveyed by Esther J. Dollar to the City of San Rafael by Deed dated November 28, 1971 and recorded on page 293 of Book 2848 of records in the office of the County Recorder of Marin County, California; thence N23°03' E 246.25'; thence N38' W 115.50'; thence N6°15'E 330.00'; thence leaving the boundary as described in the above deed from Dollar to the City of San Rafael on a course N84°30'32" W 204.85'; thence N77°50'59" W 109.37';thence S2°11'42" W 94.51' to a point which lies on the existing property fence along the westerly boundary of the above referenced Dollar parcel; thence S6°33'35"W 365.99' to a point also on said fence line; thence leaving said fence line on a course S83°08'E 5.50'; thence S3°01'42" E 199.32' to the true point of beginning. r-X111G'IT ;iA'l
