RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO J. WARREN CRANE
WHEREAS, J. WARREN CRANE, one of San Rafael's most respected businessmen
and lifetime residents, has resigned from the San Rafael Fire Commission
following thirty-five years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, over this wide span of years COMMISSIONER CRANE has assiduously
and diligently fought to provide the highest level of fire prevention and
protection possible for the citizens of this community; having effectively
participated in the growth and development of San Rafael's Fire Department
from a single station, volunteer department in 1940, to an efficiently manned
and equipped, six station department in 1975; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of COMMISSIONER CRANE's fairmindedness and deep
concern for the betterment of his fellow man he received the honor and
distinction of being selected as a member of the Marin County Grand Jury on
three separate occasions, 1958, 1964, 1967 --being chosen Foreman of this panel
in 1964 --and, in addition, was appointed to serve on the Marin County Draft
Board and Marin County Parole Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
San Rafael, in grateful acknowledgement of a most significant contribution to
the citizenry of this community, reluctantly accepts the resignation of
J. WARREN CRANE and affectionately extends to him warmhearted wishes for
happiness and well-being in his future retirement years.
I, MARION A. GRADY, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify
that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted
at a Regular meeting of the Council of said City on Monday, the 4th day of
August, 1975, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Jensen, Miskimen, Nixon and Mayor Bettini
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Mulryan
