HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 5006RESOLUTION NO. 5006 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL CONSOLIDATING THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD FOR THE PURPOSE OF VOTING ON THE QUESTION OF THE ANNEXATION OF THE TERRITORY KNOWN AS "SAN RAFAEL MEADOWS ANNEXATION" WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 35122 of the Government Code of the State of California, the question of annexation may be submitted to the electors of the territory proposed to be annexed at a regular or special election; and WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of San Rafael specifies that general municipal elections are the Tuesday after the first Monday in March of each odd -numbered year; and WHEREAS, there is to be held a General District Election on the 4th day of November, 1975; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Rafael desires to submit the question of annexation to the electors residing in said territory at that election; and WHEREAS, to do so requires the calling of a special municipal election; and WHEREAS, the measure to be submitted at the special municipal election shall be as follows: Shall the territory known and designated as the "San Rafael Meadows Annexation" be annexed to the City of San Rafael, and the property in such territory be, after such annexation, subject to taxation equally with the property within the City of San Rafael to pay the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of San Rafael outstanding or authorized at the date of the first publication of notice of election, for the acquisition, construction or completion of municipal improve- ments, excepting therefrom the City of San Rafael General Obligation Sewer Bond, April 21, 1971 Issue? NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the 4th day of November, 1975, is hereby designated as a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting the question of annexation to the electors of the territory known as "San Rafael Meadows Annexation;" BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is authorized to request that this Special Municipal Election be consolidated with the General District Election to be held in the City of San Rafael, and she is further authorized to conduct all other proceedings necessary to effect such consolidation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Marin is hereby requested to authorize the County Clerk to render the following specified services for the City of San Rafael relating to the conduct of the special municipal election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 1975; Voter Indexes Voter count by precinct Polling place cards Drayage and rental of polling place equipment Stuffing and mailing of sample ballots and inserts Printing of sample and official ballots Printing of measure and arguments Appointment and notification of election officers Rental of precinct polling places Procurement of precinct supplies Training of precinct workers Processing of absentee ballots Canvass of votes cast I, MARION A. GRADY, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at an adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 5th day of August, 1975, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Jensen, Miskimen, Mulryan and Mayor Bettini NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Nixon MARION A.
