RESOLUTION NO. 4873
RECOGNIZING AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THE WORK PERFORMED
BY THE CITIZENS' ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON THE SAN RAFAEL GENERAL
PLAN. - - ---
WHEREAS, State law substantially changed the contents and increased
the complexity of General Plans in 1971 and necessitated that the City of San
Rafael prepare and adopt a new General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the State Guidelines relevant to the preparation and content
of the General Plan strongly recommended that there be formed aiwidely repre-
sentative citizens' committee which committee should participate extensively
in the evolution of such plans; and
WHEREAS, on January 29, 1973, the City Council did appoint from the
voluntary applicants a committee of over sixty members which was intended to
be representative of the full diversity of opinion throughout our community
on major community issues; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens' Advisory Committee diligently researched com-
munity issues, identified options and applied this knowledge in the formulation
of goals and objectives of the General Plan; and
WHEREAS, after twenty-two months of an effective working relationship
between this advisory committee and the City of San Rafael, a General Plan has
been adopted by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of San Rafael
acknowledges the conscientious, dedicated, and extensive work and personal
sacrifices of members of the Citizens' Advisory Committee on the San Rafael
General Plan; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council extends its unanimous
expression of appreciation to the Citizens' Advisory Committee with the hope
that all members will consider themselves valued civic leaders and will con-
tinue their notable interest in San Rafael, monitoring its progress and growth
to assure orderly development in conformity with adopted community goals and
policies.

certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly adopted by the
City Council of the City of San Rafael, at a regular meeting thereof, held

on Monday , the 4th day of November , 1974, by the
following vote, to wit:
