RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO MARIN HERITAGE
WHEREAS, Marin Heritage is a community organization dedicated
to the recognition, restoration and preservation of San Rafael's his-
toric, cultural and environmental heritage; and
WHEREAS, in 1973 it became evident that the families of San
Rafael would forever lose "Falkirk", the historice Dollar Estate and
only significant piece of urban open space in the downtown area, to
an alternative land use; and
WHEREAS, Marin Heritage realized that such a loss would
serve to eradicate from San Rafael an integral and irreplaceable tie
with the City's history and tradition; and
WHEREAS, it was through the perseverance and tireless effort
of Marin Heritage that Proposition "G" was placed on the November 1974
ballot and successfully passed, thus saving this priceless site in
San Rafael.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby
expresses sincere and genuine appreciation to Marin Heritage and ex-
pecially to Mary and Fred Dekker who worked so diligently by donating
countless hours from their personal lives for the cultural enrichment
of this community.
I, MARION A. GRADY, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby
certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced
and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held
on the 18th day of November , 1974 , by the following vote to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Miskimen, Mulryan, Nixon and Mayor Bettini
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Jensen
