RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO
IMPLEMENT STAGE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ULTIMATE INTERCHANGE DESIGN AT
HIGHWAY 101 AND LUCAS VALLEY ROAD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has been concerned for some time
with the traffic congestion and delay developing in the area of Lucas Valley
Road at the connection to Highway 101; and
WHEREAS, there is substantial traffic congestion at the peak hours
in this area; and
and
WHEREAS, traffic in the area will be increasing at a rapid rate;
WHEREAS, additional traffic will be generated in the near future
with the completion of the Fireman's Fund Computer Center, the Contempo Mobile
Home Park, the County of Marin's McInnis Park, as well as from other local
development in the area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
San Rafael does hereby request the California Department of Transportation to
implement stage construction of the ultimate interchange design at Highway 101
and Lucas Valley Road as soon as possible so as to reduce current traffic con-
gestion in the area and to provide the maximum benefit at the earliest possible
time.
