HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4799RESOLUTION NO. 4799 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO SUBMIT TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL A PROPOSITION RE- GARDING THE ACQUISITION, RESTORATION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE ROBERT DOLLAR ESTATE LOCATED AT 1408 MISSION AVENUE, SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA. WHEREAS, various citizens groups in the City of San Rafael have expressed interest in preserving the property known as the Robert Dollar Estate, located at 1408 Mission Avenue, San Rafael, California; and WHEREAS, a feasibility study has been done which shows that the acquisition, restoration, maintenance and operation would be uneconomical to the City; and WHEREAS, the City is interested in preserving certain properties if at all possible; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Rafael desires to submit the question of whether or not the electors of the City of San Rafael favor the acquisition, restoration, maintenance and operation and any tax rate increase incident to such acquisition, restoration, maintenance and operation of the Robert Dollar Estate at 1408 Mission Avenue, San Rafael, California, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of San Rafael does hereby call a Special Election for Tues- day, the 5th day of November, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the electors residing in the City of San Rafael the following Proposition: "Do the Electors of the City of San Rafael favor the City of San Rafael acquiring, restoring, maintain- ing and operating the property known as the Robert Dollar Estate located at 1408 Mission Avenue, San Rafael, California? To accomplish these purposes it will be necessary to increase the general tax rate now being levied by the City by the amount of five cents (5¢) per $100.00 assessed valuation for a period of three (3) years for acquisition and restoration, and 1. by the amount of two cents (20) per $100.00 assessed valuation thereafter for the maintenance and operation of said property." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of San Rafael to request that this Special Election be consolidated with the General Election to be held on Tuesday, the 5th day of November, 1974. I, MARION A. GRADY, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 5th day of August , 1974, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Jensen, Mulryan, Nixon and Acting Mayor Miskimen NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Mayor Bett i n i 2.
