CANINE FARO
WHEREAS, after over five years of devoted service to the City of San Rafael, Canine
Faro is retiring. Faro's employment with the City commenced in 2013 as one of two San Rafael
Police Canines; and
WHEREAS, upon his joining the San Rafael Police Department, Faro successfully
completed a five week canine patrol course and a five week canine narcotics detection course.
Faro immediately became a valued member of the department; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, Faro, along with his handler, successfully passed canine SWAT
school and joined the department's SWAT Team. Most recently Faro was deployed to search a
large area in Novato for homicide suspects from Sonoma County; and
WHEREAS, Faro was deployed hundreds of times during his career for tasks including
locating hiding criminal suspects, locating suspects in burglaries and assaults, searching for
narcotics, and safely clearing buildings and vehicles; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, assisted the Marin County Major Crimes Task force in
locating narcotics related to large scale organized crime narcotics trafficking;
WHEREAS, Faro was the main attraction at many community events including, National
Night Out, Camp Chance, school career fairs, Citizen Police Academy, and neighborhood
meetings; and
WHEREAS, Faro's presence at calls for service provided safety for each officer at every
call to which he was sent; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as a San Rafael Police Canine Faro was always a good
dog.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby congratulates C ine Faro on his retirement and commends him for his dedication and
distinguished rvice o behalf of the resident
